my car just started to emit squeky screeching sound while braking. not sure where it is coming out from but my guess is from the front tyres. btw, since i last service my brakes sometime ago, i realised that my front tyres get dirty (blackened) after a few days of driving/braking. why is this so?

price of servicing in singapore is sky rocketing. i m paying thru my nose for servicing so much so that i have to do them in parts over period of time. :(

since the car mechanics in singapore workshops are malaysians, i m not wrong to say that i can get the same quality of servicing, if not better, in jb for lesser amount of money. i cud also get to do more in jb for the same amount of $ i pay in singapore. duh!

seeking recommendations from fellow car owners for reliable car servicing and/or repair workshops in jb.

thanks.

Yokohama Earth-1 Launch 23 August 2010
With today’s concerns over global warming, any effort to save the environment is BIG news. YHI proudly introduced Yokohama’s newly developed Earth-1 ECO tyres on the afternoon of 23 August 2010.

Aimed at having clean, friendly and orangey fun with Earth-1 tyres and oranges, YHI held the launch at Ben and Jerry’s Ranch House @ Dempsey. All guests were warmly welcomed and greeted with race queens distributing Yokohama door gifts. The event kicked started with a speech by Executive Director of YHI, Mr Tay Tiang Guan, and was also graced by the President of Yokohama Asia, Mr Takeshi Imai. Hype mounted as the dances performed their interpretations of orangey fun, injecting tasteful spectacles of dance moves that livened and jived the mood of the event up to a fun note.

Following that was a presentation on what is known to be the conventional purpose of the orange fruit, is now completely superseded with ‘orange oil’ technology. This theory is simple. Orange Oil is oil extracted from orange peel. It is optimized for tyre usage, creating a Super Nano – Power compound. Capitalizing on similar molecular construction of orange oil and natural rubber, the two are fused together, making the thread compound more compliant for better grip in braking and cornering.

Employing this newly developed compound, Earth-1 achieves a better balance between the conflicting two measures of performances. Grip force is obtained through ‘Orange Oil’, and rolling resistance is reduced through natural rubber. Low rolling tyre resistance saves fuel hence reduces Co2 emission into the environment. This unique design also realizes ‘Multi- Performance’ with its improvements made to performance related to comfort, quietness, and uneven wear resistance. Earth-1 tyres biodegradable property is simply a genius invention that can truly be called an ECO tyre.
